Key details for scheduling LTL pickups
You can sign up to receive notifications. You’ll know when:
- Pickup is scheduled
- Driver is assigned
- Driver is en route
- Driver has arrived
- Driver has departed
Creating a shipment online (online Bill of Lading)
Once you create your shipment, you have the option to schedule a pickup.
- If you want to schedule a pickup later, follow either the "pickup online" or "by phone" process below when you're ready.
- If you choose to act now, you’ll be routed to the schedule-a-pickup process below. Note that creating an online Bill of Lading doesn’t automatically schedule a pickup.
Creating a shipment offline (manual/handwritten Bill of Lading)
A FedEx Freight account is not required to schedule your pickup, but it is recommended.
- If you have a FedEx Freight account, include your account number on the handwritten Bill of Lading.
- When you’re ready, follow either the "pickup online" or "by phone" process below.
Schedule your LTL freight pickup by phone
You can call FedEx Freight Customer Support at 1.866.FXF.4LTL. You can also contact your local service center to schedule a pickup. If you have a FedEx Freight account, please have your account number handy to share with customer support.
How to schedule your LTL freight pickup online

Ready Time/Close Time: Provide the earliest/latest time the driver can pick up your shipment.
- Your Ready Time can’t be later than 3 p.m. local time when you’re booking online. If you’re requesting a same-day pickup, you may be able to get service after 3 p.m. Call FedEx Freight Customer Support at 1.866.FXF.4LTL or your local service center to confirm whether a freight driver is in your area.
- We require a 90-minute window between Ready Time and Close Time.

Special Services: Specify any requirements such as liftgate pickup.

Special Instructions: Add any pickup remarks for the driver. For example, “Use loading dock B.”

FAQs
If you’ve scheduled a pickup but don’t have a shipment when the FedEx Freight driver arrives, you’ll be charged a fee. To avoid this fee, you need to cancel the pickup before it’s assigned to a driver. You can cancel a freight pickup online, unless it’s too close to the cutoff time. If so, you’ll see a message to call the service center. You can also cancel by calling FedEx Freight Customer Support at 1.866.FXF.4LTL or your local service center.
