General FAQs

Are there any changes to my FedEx Freight agreements and earned discounts post-separation?

In November 2025, FedEx Freight customers received an email indicating that their agreement(s) was partially assigned to FedEx Freight, Inc. as a stand-alone company. For details about your existing customer transportation agreement(s) please click here.

In the event you had an active agreement with combined earned discount tiers with FedEx and/or FedEx Freight, notifications were sent that your tiers would be separated before June 1, 2026. The FedEx Discount Detail Tool (FDDT) has now been updated to reflect your separated tiers.

No action is needed on your part. Your day-to-day account management and service levels will remain unchanged, and you will continue to work with your existing representatives, systems, and support teams.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the changes further, please don't hesitate to contact your FedEx Freight sales representative.

Will my service be disrupted during the transition?
No, your service will continue uninterrupted-and you'll soon see we’re making improvements in booking, billing, and tracking.
What happens to my pricing agreements and discounts?

We separated parcel and LTL agreements in early spring 2026. If your agreement renewed before that, we separated it then. FedEx and FedEx Freight used your historical shipping data to create comparable discounts for each new agreement.

Your Earned Discounts will now continue separately for LTL shipments.

Is FedEx Freight still a part of the FedEx Rewards program after its separation from FedEx?
true
No. FedEx Freight shipments no longer earn FedEx Rewards points as of April 30, 2026.
Do I need a new login for FedEx Freight?
false
Yes, and there are instructions available on updating login paths. Your access to tracking, billing, automation, and historical shipping data are still available within your shipping account.
Have my FedEx Freight service options changed?
false
No. You can still get commercial and residential delivery with FedEx Freight® Priority, FedEx Freight® Priority Plus, FedEx Freight® Economy, and FedEx Freight® Direct. FedEx Custom Critical® and other specialized LTL freight shipping services are also available.
Why did FedEx Freight separate from FedEx?
false

As two independent businesses, FedEx and FedEx Freight can now drive innovation and investment distinctive to each business and attract investors who are the best fit for its specific financial situation and goals. This ensures both have the right support to grow and thrive. This change makes it easier for people who invest in our business to see the individual performance and future plans of each company. They can then choose to invest in one or both companies based on their unique strengths.

What's most important for you to know is that the reliable service and excellent support you've come to expect from us has not changed. FedEx Freight continues to provide the same service, speed, and coverage you rely on.

As an independent company, FedEx Freight is investing in our LTL sales organization and technology solutions-and scaling fast. The result? An outstanding delivery experience with data-driven, personalized service.

Do I need a new FedEx account for FedEx Freight?
false
No. You can continue to use your FedEx Freight-enabled account number. If you don't have FedEx Freight enabled on your account, reach out to your FedEx Freight Sales Representative.

Automation FAQs

Can I still use FedEx Ship Manager® software with FedEx Freight?
h3
false

Yes. While FedEx Freight is working to implement its own shipping software in the near future, customers can still use FedEx Ship Manager in the meantime. However, your FedEx Ship Manager software needs to be updated to version 400x, to process FedEx Freight shipments. This version provides comprehensive LTL functionality as well as other beneficial features.

Version 400xis currently available to download here. If you already have an older version of the software, you should have previously received a notification when this latest version was available. Simply click "Install now" when prompted.

Open files, active programs, virus protection, and firewalls can interfere with the FedEx Ship Manager software installation. Please close all of these before installing.

If you have issues or do not receive a prompt, contact Technical Support at 1.877.339.2TT4 and say "FedEx Ship Manager Software" when prompted.
